The first week of June 2011, we decided to have the TPLO surgery on Tyson's right knee. It seemed this knee was worse after having the first surgery. We knew we couldn't do the whole donation thing, we didn't have time, he needed surgery ASAP. Tyson got down in the backyard and he couldn't get up. What do you do when a dog that large can't get up, you sit with him. Well my husband sat there for a very long time with tears in his eyes trying to figure out what to do. So we decided to sell our truck to juggle debt and afford his surgery the best we could.
6-7-11 Tyson went in for his surgery. We are worried sick, but relieved that maybe he will have a better life. He deserves it.

We where so happy to pick up Tyson the next morning. I don't think we got much sleep that night. When borrowed a car that had a hatch with plenty of space in it. We thought this time was going to be easier to get him home since we felt better prepared on what to expect, boy was we wrong. We back the car straight up to the porch right through our grass so he didn't have to use the stairs. He was to scared to walk across the ramp. After about an hour we finally got him out of the car, but then he laid right down in the driveway and wouldn't budge. It was almost 100 degrees and we where in the middle of the blazing sun. After another hour of attempts, I called the fire department trying to figure out what to do. They told me to call animal control, which I didn't. We where just so concerned of him having a heat stroke. We kept giving him ice and water. After about 2 hours of heat/misery we where able to get him up and into the house. Thank god for air conditioning!

7-5-11 Today it has been 1 month since the 2nd surgery.
8-2-11 I can't believe it has been 2 months. Tyson is fully recovered and a totally different dog. The changes we have seen in him are wonderful.
